Parkland Proverbs

a song cycle for mezzo-soprano, baritone, flute and piano

A setting of ten Hebrew proverbs that cover a gamut of subjects: wisdom, integrity, drink, leadership.

Program Notes

The song  cycle Parkland Proverbs was written to welcome four new music faculty to Pacific Lutheran University in the fall of 2018.  Within the set are solos, duets, trios and quartets, all showcasing the talents of our new colleagues.  The aphoristic texts come from the book of Proverbs.  "Parkland" refers to the area of Tacoma (WA) where PLU is located.
